It’s time to feel festive with the Donkey Kong Country 3 Christmas Cheat code!
Welcome back to my holiday cabin, the place I go to but once a year with my holiday helpers to make YouTube videos for boys and girls of all ages, around the world. We’ve been hard at work this year, making some absolutely cracking videos, and we’re all very proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 12 months.
But before we get ready to start preparing Christmas lunch, Eric reminded me of another of gaming’s greatest cheats, one that seems very topical considering this seasonal time of year – And in the spirit of giving gifts, we’re going to share this cheat code with you.
Donkey Kong Country 3 was the last of Rare’s simian-themed SNES platformers, released late in the SNES’s lifespan, in November 1996. With both Donkey and Diddy Kongs in a spot of bother after being captured, you play as the team of Dixie Kong and her cousin Kiddy Kong to rescue the boys and give King K. Rool a jolly good kick in the testicles.
The game contained its fair share of cheats, accessible on the Select Game screen. Each one is initiated by highlighting the save game you want to load, and typing in the following button combination:
L, R, R, L, R, R, L, R, L, R
You’ll then be invited to type a word in, and there are several different words that can be used to make the game easier or even harder. But there’s one cheat in particularly that we’ll be scrutinising today, and with it being just a few days from Christmas, how apt that Rare decided to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year in this very game.
The word you need to type in for this code, is:
Load your game, and for the most part, everything seems pretty normal. Until you enter one of the game’s many bonus rooms.
What was once bananas and stars have now been turned into jingle bells and presents. What was once the bonus game theme has been replaced with a piece of music that is of a seasonal nature. Put on your tackiest jumper, grab a pad and snuggle up on the sofa with a nice hot chocolate, because Christmas has come to your Super Nintendo.
And on that subject, it’s time for us to get on with our Christmas present-wrapping. 2016 has been a wonderful year for Pug Hoof Gaming, and that’s all thanks to you guys. I’d love to hear about what games you plan on playing over the break, or what games are on your Christmas list?
From all of us here, we hope you have a wonderful holiday, and we’ll be back next Thursday with our final video of the year.
