If you’re finding things a little tough down in the tundras of Hoth, you could do a lot worse than join the Dark Side and cheat. These Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back cheats will give you the firepower you need to get through this incredibly tricky game.

Inputting these cheats is simple. As the game boots up, don’t press a single thing. Then, when the main menu appears, input these codes.

Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Cheats and Codes – Super Nintendo

High Scores

First up, a useless code to view the game’s High Scores – Just press A, A, B, B.

Play With The Star Wars Logo

For some reason, there’s a cheat to manipulate the opening cutscene. Just press Y four times and start the game as normal. Then, when the scrolling text appears, you can use L, R and the Dpad to manipulate the text, and then you can move the Star Destroyer when it appears. Absolutely pointless.

Watch The End Credits

On the subject of useless codes, to watch the game’s Credits, just press A, B, A, B, A, B, A and B.

Sound Test

To unlock a sound test while playing a sidescrolling level, hold A, B, X, Y and Down. While holding all of those buttons, press Start and you’ll get a neat little menu to listen to all of the game’s music and sound effects.

7 Continues

Now, onto the real cheats, starting off with a simple code for 7 continues – Just press X, Y, A, B, X and X, and when you start the game, you’ll have a nice healthy store of Continues – You’ll need them.

99 Lives

If you’re still struggling, press X, Y, B, B, B, X, A, Y, Y, B, A, X and Y to get yourself a grand total of 99 lives, which might just be enough!

All Force Powers

Too impatient to complete your Jedi training and learn The Force? Press X, B, B, Y, X, A, A and X to unlock all of the Force Powers immediately.

Infinite Thermal Detonators

For the ultimate in destructive power, pressing A, X, B, X, X, A and Y will give you infinite access to Thermal Detonators, which you can use to obliterate everything onscreen.

Warp To The Final Darth Vader Battle

To get all the way to the last battle with Darth Vader himself, press A, X, B, A, Y, X, B, A, A, X, B, B, Y and X. When you start the game, you’ll be taken straight to the final level. To be honest, it’s probably easier just to use the password, but there you go.

Game Debug Menu – Level Select and More!

Much like Super Star Wars, this sequel also has a cheat menu code. For this one, press A, B, Y, X, A, B, Y, X, A, B, A, B, Y, X, X, Y, A, B, Y and X. You’ll also have all the Force powers when playing as Luke, plus have infinite Thermal Detonators – But there are many more things you can do with this cheat, but you’ll controller plugged into Controller port 2.

Once you start the game, or while playing any sidescrolling level, if you press L & R together on Controller 2, you’ll be taken to the Debug Menu. Here, you can choose what level and stage to be warped to, how many Lives you want, the size of your Health bar, and what blaster upgrade you want to begin with.

Also during a sidescrolling level, hold A, B, X, Y and Select on Controller 2, and your current level coordinates will appear – But more importantly, you’ll also be invincible.

Finally, on any sidescrolling stage, if you press Start on Controller 2, you’ll skip to the next level, instantly.

That’s all of the Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Cheats, which should make this incredibly tough game, quite a bit more bearable. Stay tuned for more Jedi-related videos for all you rebel scum out there, as part of Super Star Wars Month, 2021.
